1. PIXELISM [pix-el-ism]
PIXELISM ART MOVEMENT: Developed and defined by artist JOACHIM MCMILLAN from 2008.
a. a contemporary style of painting inspired by the digital imaging used in computer technology and characterized mainly by presentation of an image whose surface have being fractured into a distinct configuration of squares creating a mosaic arrangement of texture, pattern and color.
b. a manner of painting with the characteristic appearance of a broken surface in which the subject is presented in a fragmented state.
c. a technique of painting in which the artist breaks down the painted surface into small areas using texture, color and pattern thereby creating a multifaceted effect similar to stained glass.
2. IMPASTO FREESTYLE
FREESTYLE ART MOVEMENT: Developed and defined by artist JOACHIM MCMILLAN from 2009-2010.
a. a style characterized by its carefree strokes with the palette knife (or brush) and thick paint application. It is an outstanding expression of how free the artist applies strokes in a carefress or loose manner creating a constructive image that portray action in the viewers eyes.
